The Style of Modern OrientalResidential House Design by Karen Lin
Shape and color are the junctions for the surface layer vault into the intrinsic texture. Home-style is the summation image of life aesthetics. In Taiwan, via the rite of passage of the Oriental culture, we implicitly have a longing for the profound aesthetics of the oriental. Nature scenery and housing decorations which enumerate the proportions of colors, internalizes into the emotions of thoughts and spirit then reveals in the scenes of life.
The Style of Modern Oriental, designed by Karen Lin, is a unique residential house that combines traditional Oriental elements with contemporary design. The use of color is dramatic, breaking away from the traditional Chinese style and incorporating vivid and bright Chinese elements. The design aims to subvert the traditional Oriental style and leave a stunning impression on guests.
The living room space in The Style of Modern Oriental emphasizes the atmosphere of family reunion. Behind the TV, black steel brush wood bark is used to integrate vision with the TV, creating a seamless visual experience. The marble splicing technique is employed to extend the whole vision outward, adding depth and dimension to the space.
The design team faced the challenge of flexible color application in this project. In the second bedroom, a cyan pad on the bed's headboard contrasts sharply with a bright orange vase on the bedside table, creating a dynamic and vibrant atmosphere. The guest bedroom utilizes high-brightness spatial hues, creating a delicate and elegant pure atmosphere. The solid wood black frame outlines a pure white bedstead, exuding a sense of Tai Chi lasting appeal. The silver bamboo wall lamp manifests the fashionable new Oriental aesthetics.
The Style of Modern Oriental spans an area of 400 square meters and was completed in October 2017 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The design team aimed to bring an up and coming sensation to the residential space with brilliant taste and multiple perspectives. The result is a classical and fashionable "New Oriental" poise that combines contemporary and classical elements in an interlaced way.
This design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. The award acknowledges designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Style of Modern Oriental contributes to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
